FAQs
What is sexuality?
We are all sexual beings and our sexuality (how we identify, relate to others, and experience sexual thoughts, feelings, and romantic attraction) is an important part of who we are. This is true whether or not someone is in a relationship or not having sex. Each person’s sexuality is personal and different, and may change over time, but it is always to be valued, embraced, celebrated, and respected. To know and accept one’s sexuality can be truly liberating.
What is sexuality Counseling AND WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT IN THE COUNSELING EXPERIENCE?
Sexuality counseling is the process through which individuals and couples working with a skilled sexuality professional, are helped to achieve the change they seek for specific issues impairing their sexual function and satisfaction. You should expect a safe, comfortable and non-judgmental environment where you can speak openly about your needs and concerns. Exploration of beliefs, attitudes, and practices; completion of a sexual history; reflection and introspection; homework assignments; and setting and working to achieve the goals agreed on between counselor and client, are some of the main elements used in the counseling experience.
